Aboriginal Student Affairs
UBC is situated on the traditional territory of the Musqueam people of British Columbia. We acknowledge the Musqueam community for allowing us to be guests on their territory.
The Faculty of Arts Aboriginal Student Affairs supports the success of new and continuing Aboriginal students in the Faculty of Arts. As a part of Academic Advising Services we’re here to serve your academic needs and connect you with campus resources. Come and see us for help planning your course schedule, accessing financial assistance information, tutoring and peer advising, and if you experience challenges to your academics.
We also organize events throughout the year that contribute to the campus community and distribute a weekly newsletter by email called The Post to students, alumni, staff, and members of the community. The Post includes information on job, volunteer and scholarship opportunities, as well as events that are happening on- and off-campus. For a list of The Post archives since May 2008, please follow this link.

“We remember that all things are connected. ... ‘All my relations’ ... those words create a relationship with other people, with animals, and with the land. To have health it is necessary to keep all these relations in mind.” --Linda Hogan, Dwellings, p. 40
This seminar will undertake a multidisciplinary inquiry into Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal ways of knowing ‘nature,’ ranging from concepts of ‘wilderness’ and ‘bush garden’ to concepts of land, story and community fundamental to Aboriginal epistemology and Traditional Ecological Knowledge. This course is open to graduate students. If you are a fourth year student interested in this course please contact the professor directly at lweir@interchange.ubc.ca
