Environment and Sustainability (Lecturer)

The Department of Geography at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver (www.geog.ubc.ca) invites applications for one full-time, Lecturer position (1 year contract), starting as early as July 1, 2020.

The successful applicant will be required to teach 24 credits of Geography undergraduate courses and to carry out advising duties, committee assignments, and administrative activities within the department, which will include but is not limited to contribution to program development, implementation of curriculum changes and innovative pedagogical practices across the department, as well as mentorship of students in the Environment and Sustainability program. The applicant will have a strong commitment to teaching in our Environment and Sustainability program. The teaching assignment is expected to include: GEOG 310, GEOG 311, GEOG 313, GEOG 316, GEOG 318 and GEOG 410.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree, or be nearing completion of the degree, in a field directly relevant to geography education. An interest in research and teaching related to the human dimensions of environmental change and sustainability would be an asset.

The position is subject to final budgetary approval.
