The successful candidate must be a senior scholar with a PhD. We seek a candidate who demonstrates an accomplished and pioneering track record in archaeology and community-based research practice with Indigenous communities in North America. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of developing and evaluating community-university partnerships, community-based methods, and interdisciplinary scholarship. Priority will be given to candidates who identify as Indigenous. Pursuant to UBC’s Indigenous Strategic Plan (https://indigenous.ubc.ca/indigenous-engagement/indigenous-strategic-plan/) we seek a scholar who is a leader in research, teaching and mentorship, and partnerships with Indigenous communities. We are looking for a scholar who can take up a leadership role in implementing the Indigenous Strategic Plan at the Laboratory of Archaeology, in the Department of Anthropology, and at UBC.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of research, service, graduate supervision, and undergraduate and graduate teaching. They will join a community of scholars at the University of British Columbia that has a long history of research partnerships with Indigenous communities.
