Family Studies (Lecturer)

The Department of Sociology ( at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver campus, invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position (non-tenure track) in Family Studies, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2021.

This is a full-time position for an initial term of up to three years, including a probationary first year. Lecturer positions are appointments without review (i.e. non-tenure track), renewable for successive terms, subject to availability of funds and demonstration of excellence in teaching and service, in accordance with the Collective Agreement between UBC and the UBC Faculty Association. The successful candidate will be expected to fulfill limited service duties as assigned by the Head and to teach undergraduate courses, primarily within the Family Studies minor. Teaching responsibilities would likely include two or more of the following: FMST 210: Family Context of Human Development, FMST 312: Parent-child Relationships, FMST 314: Relationship Development, FMST 441: Social Context of Child Development, SOCI 200: Sociology of Family and SOCI 220: Diversity in Family Forms. In collaboration with other faculty members, the successful candidate will work to strengthen the Department’s Family Studies curriculum by developing and teaching new courses that align with the life course framework of our Family Studies minor program. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
