Cora

Year and program: Fourth-year, Psychology major

Where is home for you? Vancouver, BC

What three adjectives best describe you?

Curious, caring, conscientious

What extracurricular activities have you been involved with (UBC related or not)?

Arts Welcome, Sprouts, Gii, Alzheimer Society, etc.

What is your best study strategy/tip?

Practice active recall. Simply reading and re-reading notes is a slow and passive way to learn — it doesn’t build strong associations between learning objectives and their answers. Instead, try using flashcards, self-quizzing, or teaching the material out loud as if you’re explaining it to someone else. These strategies engage your active memory and help consolidate new knowledge more effectively.

If you could travel back in time to your first year at UBC, what is one thing you would do differently?

I would put myself more out there socially — more intentional in making connections, more open-minded about new experiences, more proactive in reaching out for resources.
