Year and program: Third-Year, Political Science major and Law & Society minor

Where is home for you? Vancouver, BC

What three adjectives best describe you?

Passionate, hard-working, optimistic

What extracurricular activities have you been involved with (UBC related or not)?

On campus I serve on the Partnerships Committee in the UBC Student Alumni Council and am involved with the Medical Ethics Club and the Pre-Law Association. Outside of campus, I channel my passion for community-building through my involvement with Women Transforming Cities, while also assisting local neighbourhood associations and supporting operations at immigration centres and food banks.

What is your best study strategy/tip?

A great general tip is to talk through difficult topics! Chat with your TA, go over concepts with friends, or ask your professor questions. Talking it out forces you to articulate the concepts in your own words, which is very helpful with discerning gaps in your knowledge. Plus, hearing other people’s questions and perspectives can help clear up misconceptions that you didn’t even realize you had. It’s way more engaging and constructive than just reading your notes over and over!

If you could travel back in time to your first year at UBC, what is one thing you would do differently?

I would definitely step out of my comfort zone more often. Whether it’s attending events, joining clubs, or talking to more professors, your time at UBC will be one of the most opportunity-filled periods of your life, so make the most of it! 🙂
