UBC Arts Multilingual Week is teaming up with the student club, UBC Slam Poetry, to host our fourth annual Multilingual Poetry Slam! Students from all disciplines and language backgrounds are invited to deliver a spirited poetry reading from a multilingual perspective. Students can sign up here to recite either:
- Their own original poem written in any language other than English or across multiple language(s), which if desired, can include English.
- A poem that they have translated themselves from or into any language (e.g., English to Tibetan; English to Tibetan and Italian; Tibetan to English; Tibetan to English and Italian; Tibetan to Italian and Japanese, etc.)
This year, we are also excited to host a special guest, Dr. Aynur Kadir, who will perform Uyghur poetry! All members of the UBC community are welcome to attend, and this year’s prizes are gift certificates to the UBC Bookstore.
