On May 20, 2025, the Faculty of Arts Dean’s Office hosted an awards recognition reception, bringing together faculty members celebrated for their outstanding contributions to teaching, research, and learning.
Held in a spirit of celebration and appreciation, the event honoured this year’s Dean of Arts award recipients along with recipients of UBC, national and provincial awards, and Arts Researcher Grants. Attendees also heard from Dean Clare Haru Crowston, who reflected on the importance of community and academic excellence.
Dean Crowston announced that Linguistics Professor Dr. Henry Davis was the recipient of the 2024/2025 Dean of Arts Award. The award recognizes his exceptional contributions to educational leadership, teaching and learning, research, and community engagement in the Faculty of Arts. Dr. Davis, who was out of town and unable to attend the event, named Psychology Professor Emeritus Dr. Darrin Lehman as his co-recipient.
