Lia

Year and program: 3rd year, Psychology major

Where is home for you? Lima, Peru

What three adjectives best describe you?

Calm, dedicated, kind

What extracurricular activities have you been involved with (UBC related or not)?

I’ve been part of the PerUBC club as a general executive, now moving into the Vice President position! I also loved participating in the Archery Club, where I’m now a general executive. I am also part of the Arts Co-Op program, just having finished my first work term!

What is your best study strategy/tip?

Finding what works best for you, ranging from strategies to music and places. Personally, I like making priority-based lists, studying with flashcards for active recall, with calm music in calm places, but if loud music outdoors helps you, definitely go for that! It’s all about understanding how your brain works and providing the best atmosphere for your learning.

If you could travel back in time to your first year at UBC, what is one thing you would do differently?

Rely more on the Arts Peer Coach program! I didn’t know that it existed, and I believe it would’ve helped me a lot on planning out my classes. Also participate in more events, especially those related to living in residence.
