What extracurricular activities have you been involved with (UBC related or not)?
I am part of the executive team of the Economics Student Association (ESA), and have volunteered with the AMS Food Bank and the Korean Speaking Practice Forum. I am also involved with several research labs within the Psychology Department, working as either a volunteer research assistant or an honours thesis student.
What is your best study strategy/tip?
Don’t overthink it! Of course, you should think carefully about what you’re studying, but I find that spending too much time thinking about how much you have to get done can make you feel overwhelmed and slow you down. Instead, I suggest just getting started (even without a detailed plan) for 30 minutes and seeing how it goes.
If you could travel back in time to your first year at UBC, what is one thing you would do differently?
I would make studying abroad a priority and plan for a full-term exchange. While I did participate in a Summer Abroad program in 2025, and loved the time there, it made me wish even more that I had spent a full term studying abroad. I also wasn’t very aware of opportunities such as research abroad programs and global seminars, so if I could go back, I would be more proactive about seeking out experiences that are unique to university life – this includes studying abroad, but also the various events, programs, and opportunities available on campus!
