Ira

Year and program: 3rd year, Psychology major

Where is home for you? Home for me is up north in India, that side of the country has such a strong sense of warmth and hospitality, and honestly a big part of who I am (and my love for good food) comes straight from there.

What three adjectives best describe you?

Inquisitive, warm, and detail oriented.

What extracurricular activities have you been involved with (UBC related or not)?

This year I’m House President of Brock Commons Residence Association, VP Internal of the Psychology Students’ Association, AUS Psychology Representative and Finance Coordinator, and VP of UTSAV ISA. Alongside all of that I’m a content creator, something I genuinely love doing, and a Vancity Student Ambassador.

What is your best study strategy/tip?

Don’t procrastinate on your material, it genuinely takes just a minute to pull it up and start. The strategy I’m trying to implement this year is treating week 1 before classes as syllabus week, read the syllabus like it’s your bible. Set small short term goals for yourself, you’ve got this!

If you could travel back in time to your first year at UBC, what is one thing you would do differently?

I’ve always been the person who wants to try so many things at once, but if I could go back, I’d focus on understanding myself better and reminding myself that it’s okay to slow down.
