What extracurricular activities have you been involved with (UBC related or not)?
I am a volunteer with AMS Peer Support and a student in the Arts Co-op Program. I was also previously a dragon boat coach, since I used to paddle back in high school.
What is your best study strategy/tip?
Break big tasks into smaller ones! Writing an entire paper or reading an entire chapter feels intimidating, but ‘write the introduction’ or ‘read the first section’ is more manageable. Progress is progress! When studying, I like to go in chronological order and review material in the same sequence it was taught in class. That way, each concept builds on the previous one, and it is easier for me to see how everything connects.
If you could travel back in time to your first year at UBC, what is one thing you would do differently?
I would push myself to step outside of my comfort zone and get more involved in the UBC community! I was someone who attended my classes, and then went straight home afterwards. If I could travel back in time, I would participate in office hours, club activities, networking events, and social gatherings. There is a plethora of opportunities and connections to make at UBC, and and I encourage other students not to wait as long as I did to start exploring them.
