Following a college girl on a night out, moving back and forth from bedroom to bar scenes, one actress plays 16 characters, both comic and dramatic. Night turns to morning, and “Anygirl” awakens from her ordeal, disoriented.

Dissolve addresses the serious issues of sexual consent, drink spiking and drug-facilitated sexual assault from a darkly humorous perspective. The show is designed to provoke thought and dialogue around date rape and consent, and challenge our thinking and behaviour surrounding these topics.

The play stars Emmelia Gordon who earned a Jessie Richardson award “Outstanding Actress” for this role. The show has been touring theatres, colleges, universities and high schools throughout North America for over a decade.

Dissolve is presented as part of UBC ARTIVISM: Politics of the Body, Sept 6 – Oct 13. Tickets are $10 or free for UBC students using the promo code: ART22.

If you or someone you know has been impacted by the intentional use of substances to facilitate sexual violence there are support specialists, resources, information and more available to you through UBC Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office – SVPRO.
