UBC Arts Multilingual Week invites UBC students to join us for our second annual English-language Speech Contest! Students can sign up here to perform a three- to five-minute speech (in English) that engages this year’s theme: “How Does Language See the World?.”
Students from all disciplines and language backgrounds are invited to explore various approaches to this theme, from how language shapes our understanding of the world around us or embodies Indigenous worldviews to scientific perspectives on how language structures human perception. All UBC members are welcome to attend. This year’s prizes include Gift Certificates to the UBC Bookstore.
This event is a part of Arts Multilingual Week 2024 from March 4 to 8. Join us to celebrate multilingualism and immerse in various activities to engage with different languages and cultures. There are opportunities to showcase artistic expressions of multilingualism, discuss career prospects for multilingual graduates, and participate in activities such as poetry slams and art competitions.
