Veronica Surette

Preferred First Name: Veronica

Year Level Standing & Program(s): Fourth Year. Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice Major, International Relations Minor.

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Hometown: I am from the Nuu-Chah-Nulth, Gtixsan and Kwakwaka’wakw Nations as well as Ukrainian and French Descent. I was born and raised in Richmond, BC, but also have become very familiar with Vancouver and the UBC campus over the past three years!

Past & Present Involvement at UBC: I was an Orientation and Transition Leader (OTL) at the UBC Vancouver Campus, where I led Jumpstart and Collegia programs. Additionally, I was part of the PVRA Tec De Monterrey House Council committee throughout my first year of studying and living on campus.

When I’m not studying: I am probably hanging out with friends or spending time with my family! I also love to meet new people and make connections within the Indigenous community at UBC, so I am excited for what this role has to offer!

Tips for my first-year self: Check out more Indigenous resources such as the Longhouse, the Indigenous Leadership Collective (ILC), Vancouver Indigenous Student Collegia (VISC), etc.
