Naomi Klein’s new book, Doppelganger: A Trip into the Mirror World, braids elements of tragi-comic memoir, political reportage, and cultural analysis. She delves into what she calls the Mirror World—our destabilized present rife with doubles and confusion, where far-right movements playact solidarity with the working class, and AI-generated content blurs the line between genuine and spurious.
This event is presented by The Vancouver Writers Fest in partnership with UBC Centre for Climate Justice and the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts.
Metropolis Reworked

This year, the landmark silent film Metropolis (Dir: Fritz Lang, 1927) will enter the public domain. To celebrate this occasion, experimental music duo Magazinist (Matthew Tomkinson & Andy Zuliani) offer a live rescoring of the film at the VIFF Centre. Their original soundtrack will focus on unique hand-built instruments alongside vocal processing, synthesizers, and other electronics.
