An Arts degree gives you the flexibility to specialize in more than one academic discipline.
Bachelor of Arts students must declare or apply to a program (major, minor, or honours) before they can register with “Year 3 standing.” Bachelor of Arts students must have a major in order to graduate.
Adding or changing your major
Some majors may be declared after 27 credits, while others require declaration after 54 credits.
You can declare your major on the Student Service Centre (SSC) during your allocated registration period or submit a Change Specialization Form if you wish to change your program outside of your allocated registration time.
Adding a minor
Arts students can add most minors through the Student Service Centre (SSC).
A minor in a discipline taught in the Faculty of Arts requires a total of 30 credits in the program, 18 of which must be at the 300 level or higher.
You can choose a minor from offerings within the Faculty of Arts or from selected disciplines in the Faculties of Science, Education, and Land and Food Systems. The commerce minor requires an application.
Some minors require certain courses, grade averages, or an application, so ensure you consult the department offering the minor.
